yesterday, steve's friend was over and while they worked, i decided to make a quick dessert with gus who was being a handful to say the least.
this dessert is one of my favorites and really only takes but a few minutes to make.
the apple slices in the photos are much thicker than i usually do because i just used leftover slices gus didn't finish from lunch.
there are many variations on this i'm sure but something about the cinnamon sugar mixture really made this something special.
EASY APPLE GALETTE
Ingredients
1sheet puff pastry, thawed
1 apple, thinly sliced
3 tbsp cold butter, cubed
sugar + cinnamon mixture *
powdered sugar
parchment paper
optional: honey
*3 tbsp sugar to 1 tsp cinnamon, stirred
preheat oven to 400°
line baking tray with parchment paper that has been lightly greased. place puff pastry onto paper and slightly fold down all edges to form a rectangle and make a few small pokes with a fork to let heat distribute evenly while cooking. place apples in alternating rows and sprinkle with cubed butter. add the cinnamon sugar mixture (reserve a bit for sprinkling on at end) and bake for 15 minutes or so or until slightly golden.
let cool and sprinkle with powdered sugar. add the rest of the reserved cinnamon sugar mixture.
