CHRISTMASTIME.

dear friends,

i hope you had a beautiful holiday season filled with those you love, and who love you. ours was simple and sacred and one i will remember for all time. on christmas eve, we headed to my parents where they absolutely spoiled all our babies and made it feel just like when we were kids. my husband read stories fireside (heartmelt) and when we got home that night, i sipped tea while reading the bible as my husband was upstairs doing last minute wrapping. that morning, he made us eggs with bacon and fruit and made the best coffee to date. we were kindly gifted a darling children's kitchen from our good friends and a hand painted sea story toy chest that my mom and dad created together. we got gus many books and blocks and a new bike that grows with him.

later on that day, we had our family and my best friend over and then went for a walk down our country road where we noticed all the wild mushrooms, sheep, turkeys and foggy vineyards. gus loved running in front and leading the way, then running back into our arms for all of us to hold him. it was just perfect.

later on, as the dishes were being brought to the kitchen, my husband gave us all an in-house concert and played the most beautiful christmas music. i love being married to a musician, but something about a pianist at christmastime is just magical.

our dinner menu

whole roasted chicken
mashed buternut squash
arugula, lemon + shaved parmesan salad
roasted potatoes with crushed garlic + worstershire
warmed sourdough roll with whipped chive butter
champagne with a splash of pineapple juice
homemade berry pie with vanilla ice cream

we closed the night watching Elf while the last of the fire burned down and most of us starting nodding off on the couch. even our sweet augustus fell asleep wrapped up in my arms and i could cry just thinking about it.

and thank you, to each and every one of you who have visited this wee space this past year. it has meant so very much to my heart, knowing that i have kindred souls across the world who i can call friends.

may tomorrow be the start of the sweetest year to be.

love,

XxKerrie

  1. So very beautiful and always so peaceful. Your heart always overflowing with thankfulness...breathing peace into the soul of your precious family. I can only imagine the gift your husband gives you in playing piano. There are no words. My college age children pulled out the keyboard from the tip top of the garage on Christmas Eve because they wanted to fill our home with music...and they did. Made my heart melt. Only more loving days ahead in tour new home for a new year. Wishing you all that your heart can hold. xxo
